So walked into the first lecture, found a seat and learned that "prostitutes appeal to the pope" has more than one meaning. So far so good, this seems easy. Python programs and list comprehensions were also pretty easy to learn and get my mind around the logic of different programs. Everything was going pretty smooth, even showed up for a lecture that was actually a tutorial that wasn't held that day because it was a "secret" meeting for T.A's instead.
I had confidence that this class is going to be easy, then came this Monday. It completely slipped my mind that we had to do readings for each week. I was so completely lost in class; "what's a subset?' , "what's that C with a line under it mean?". It was extremely bad, so I went back and read everything we were supposed to and went over the lesson again with a couple of buddies. Now everything makes sense.
One thing that is confusing me is the Venn Diagrams, the whole concept of a Venn Diagram is confusing, to me at least. I heard other people found it easier to understand an expression in Venn Diagram form than the actual expression. Slowly working on understanding Venn Diagrams; getting help from friends, hopefully I'll get it before the next lecture.
I felt good about the quiz for this week but I have no idea if I'm right or wrong, waiting for the marks.
Must remind myself to read the course material before going to class; don't want to be lost again.
Memorizing all those mathematical symbols also seems like a good idea since it looks like we're going to be using them everywhere.
OH AND MUST REMIND MYSELF TO KEEP WRITING THIS BLOG EVERY WEEK.
Which you haven't done :)
ReplyDeleteThe C with the line under it is the set inclusion symbol, hopefully by now all symbols make sense!
